＞こちらで、とても詳しく紹介されていますねえ（陳謝＆感謝）！遅れ馳せなら、当店にも入荷しています！で、この人もまた、元ボビー・ベンソン楽団のトランペッターだそうですが、ヴィクター・オライヤ、エディ・オコンタ、ロイ・シカゴ、レックス・ローソンと、いったいどんだけ、ボビー・ベンソンはナイジェリアン・ハイ・ライフのミュージシャンを囲ってたというか、育てたというか…、すごいですねえ（レゴスに“キューバン・バンブー”というナイトクラブ〜後に“ホテル・ボビー”を経営したボビー・ベンソンは毎晩そこで演奏していたわけで、クラブでの演奏を維持する腕利きミュージシャンを大切にしてたんでしょうね、それにしても凄い才能発掘）。
ベンソン楽団からガーナへ、ＥＴメンサー楽団で演奏していたのはレックス・ローソンと同じ、ジール・オニイヤが1934年生まれ、ローソンが1935年生まれですからほぼ同級生みたいなもの。で、ガーナのメンサー楽団経由でオニイヤがロンドンへ行ったのは50年代後半で、ローソンが同じ道をたどったのが60年代ですから、そーういう意味ではローソンのやや先輩。けれども、その後、ナイジェリア音楽家組合の副会長をやったり、60年代にはジャズを演奏したり、その後10年間ドイツで暮らし、クラッシック音楽を演じたりしているウチに時は経ち、残念ながら、ローソン（はじめ、オライヤ、オコンタ、シカゴら）のように EVERGREEN MUSICAL COMPANY からボックスを出すほど自前の楽団による録音を残せなかったわけで、そんな中、唯一の自己楽団名義のリーダー・アルバムがこちらだと言うんだから、そりゃあ bunboni さんのブログから伝わって来る興奮度も理解できようと言うものです。つまり、実力的には他のベンソン楽団出身者と何の遜色もないナイジェリアの知られざるハイライフ・ジャイアンツによる、唯一の知られざるアルバムの初復刻ＣＤということになるわけですからね！
で、その内容、1975年？1981年？と録音時期は諸説あるそうですが、もう、ステレオでマスター音源状態の超イイ50年代末頃のハイライフ楽団未復刻音源と言われても、そのまま信じてしまいそうになるオールド・スタイルぶり、bunboni さんならずとも、そりぁ〜興奮しようと言うものですよ！

One of the founders of West African highlife in both Ghana and Nigeria, Zeal played Ellington-style swing and dance with Bobby Benson in the 40s, classic highlife with ET Mensah in the 50s and provided stiff competition for Fela Kuti’s first band as a small-jazz combo leader in the early 60s. After studying classical music in Germany for most of the 70s, he returned triumphantly to Lagos in 1979, where he promptly recorded these six memorable tunes with the Tabansi Studio Band. From the village-party vibe of ‘Zeal Anata’ to the instrumental workout ‘Egwu Olili’, every one of the tracks is a winner.
