TSEDI / SEW

>★陳謝&感謝!
My full name is Tsedal Tesfahun. I know, it can feel like a mouthful for most (roll call/attendance was the part of school that i dreaded most…) but my mama bequeathed me with this honor, so let’s all go ahead and put some ‘respeck’ on it. It has such a powerful meaning “Glorious Light of God; Be Hope”. However, you can just call me by my nickname, Tsedi. The ‘Ts’ is semi-silent like Tsunami and it kind of feels like you are imitating the sound of a Hi-hat.
Anyhow, I am a Singer-Songwriter and Backing Vocalist currently living in the Bay Area (California). I’m somewhat of a modern-day nomad, I’ve lived in a few places and the question of where is home is always a puzzling one for me. The blessing of getting to live in various countries though is that so many forms of music have influenced me. From my childhood roots surrounded by Bongo, Soukous and Ethiopian church music, to my early teens which were infused with Reggae, Hip Hop and Arabic Pop. My late teens consisted of a steady diet
of India Arie, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott and Lauryn Hill with a heaping portion of Stephen and Damian Marley, a side of Gigi Shibabaw and a large scoop of D’Angelo for dessert. I have long been a connoisseur of sounds and have no intention of ever stopping. A girl’s gotta eat! Most recently I’ve been delving into the deliciousness of Afrobeats, Soca, House, Latin and Jazz; while getting all my ital fixins from the Reggae Revival crew.
The music that I make is a World fusion style, which much like my nomadic musical life combines a variety of genres into one soulful vibe. I’m a genre bender… But because we live in a world of boxes and categorization, you’ll find me under ‘World’ or ‘Reggae’. As for my lyrical content, I choose to focus on uplifting messages and the silver linings in our dark clouds.
I hope you enjoy it!〜from “www.tsedimusic.com”
