Disc One on this Two CD Set features Some of the Earliest Recorded Mento, Originally Found on Jamaican 78s, Issued in the Late 1950’s. These Records, which Covered News, Events and Carnal Relations were Made to Be Played on the Island’s New Sound Systems and for Jamaica’s Growing Tourist Industry. The Second CD Focuses on Slightly Later Material, Issued at a Time When Mento’s Dominance in Jamaica was under Threat from Ska and Rocksteady. During this Period Its Pre-occupation with Ribald and Risqué Lyrics was Steadily Growing, Though in a Typically Jamaican Way Spiritual Matters of Africa and Haile Selassie were also Beginning to Surface. These Tracks Are Available for the First Time Ever on CD and Are Presented with Plenty of Period Labels, Album Covers and Memorabilia. 〜レーベル・インフォより
